Reflections on ‘The Tentmaker’ Tour
I really can’t believe how much time has flown. It has now been over a year since the launch of ‘The Tentmaker’; a one man show on the life of Paul the apostle.
During this time, good ol’ Paul (or Saul – depending on whether your reading Acts before or after the man’s visit to de-poll), has set up his guy ropes on 24 different campsites throughout Wales and England. First in summer 2010, and then again in New Year 2011.
It has been a great experience, not only re-living the character of Paul/Saul (see thought process above), but it has also been a humbling process through research, writing and rehearsing.
I hope people gained something from the show, but forgetting that for a minute, I feel it was worth it just to gain a better understanding myself, of the man who took main stage in Acts – taking the message of Jesus across the continents and, bar the gospels, who pretty much wrote the whole New Testament.
On one hand, to be challenged by how ‘soul-ed out’ he was for the message, but on the other hand – becoming bowled over anew at the power of the message… A message that saved a Pharisee, that melted the heart of a religious fanatic, a message that disarmed a terrorist – who once was lost but then got found, who was blind, but 3 days later could really see.
